Folks can bring along enough items to pack a shoe box (boxes provided) or donate bulk items of soaps, facecloths, crayons, socks, snacks, toys, etc. and help pack boxes. For those who can’t attend but want to participate, it costs $10 to ship a shoebox, donations of cash or cheque payable to Samaritan’s Purse, are also welcome. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for tax receipts.

Everyone is welcome and the Church of Endiang is serving pizza from the Byemoor Hotel afterwards. This event is such a wonderful way to help less fortunate children from around the world make their Christmas a little bit brighter.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Ken Hayes who passed away on Oct. 25 in Calgary at the age of 88 years. Ken was raised in the Byemoor community, one of seven children born to Jack and Lena Hayes. He married Jeanette Donald of Endiang; they raised three sons and enjoyed a marriage of 67 years together.

Our thoughts are with Jeanette and her family, as well as the Hayes and Donald families in their loss.

Condolences are sent to Robert and Sheila Buchwitz and their family on the passing of Sheila’s sister Marion (nee McDonald) Laviolette on Nov. 7 in Calgary. Marion was 78 years of age. Our thoughts are with all of Marion’s family in their sad loss.

Byemoor School held a Remembrance Day service at the school on Nov. 8.

The students did a wonderful program and were assisted by the musical talents of Karyn Tateson. It is so important not to forget the contributions made by the men and women in the services, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Congratulations to Henry (Skip) and Anita Mappin on their 50th wedding anniversary. They celebrated their special milestone on Saturday, Nov. 11 with a social at The Hub in Stettler, where they were joined by many family and friends. We wish you many more happy years together, Skip and Anita.

A cougar has been spotted in the Endiang area. Definitely something the local folks will have to keep an eye out for.
