Castor and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), through Rural Mental Health Project funding, hosted a “Meet your neighbour” and volunteer appreciation supper on April 17.

Around 40 people attended the event hosted in Castor at the former Golden Circle building.

A supper of burgers, hot dogs, baked beans and vegetables was provided to those in attendance.

As an ice-breaker activity, everyone in attendance was given a “Bingo” card; spots on the card included finding someone in the group who was a farmer, who lived in Alberta all their life, and so on.

People had to introduce themselves to others in order to find out whose name they could put on the squares.

Once the cards were full, names and phone numbers were put on them and they were entered in the door-prize draw.

There were several door prizes up for grabs.

On the way out, attendees were greeted by a poster with three spots on it, where they could place a sticker gauging their level of community connection after the event.
