Stettler Regional Fire crews kept busy with back-to-back calls

One person was left dead and another severely injured in the first of a pair of collisions occuring in the Stettler region on Aug. 14.

One person was left dead and another severely injured in the first of a pair of collisions occuring in the Stettler region on Aug. 14.

Emergency crews first responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 12 near Gadsby around 10:40 a.m.

STARS Air Ambulance air-lift one patient in serious condition to hospital and another was declared dead at the scene.

In addition to fire and EMS crews, officers from the Stettler and Blackfalds RCMP detachments attended the scene as well as members of the collision analysis team.

A short time later, crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 601 near Highway 56.

The call came in around 11:15 a.m. According to RCMP media relations, two people were taken to hospital as a precaution, however no serious injuries were reported.
