The 2023 edition of the Castor Rodeo is scheduled to explode out of the bucking chutes on June 23.
According to Heide Downey, one of the organizers of the annual event, the volunteers are “really excited about this year.”
Volunteers have been hard at work improving the timed-event end of the arena, the bleachers have all received some much-needed work and entries are already up compared to last year.
“Spectators will be in for a really good show,” said Downey.
Also returning for this year’s edition of the rodeo are children’s mutton bustin’, the hide race, the foot race, the wild pony races, and Castor’s own Daring Divas Trick Riders.
A full slate of Lakeland Rodeo Association-sanctioned rodeo events is scheduled for the actual rodeo portion of the competition.
For those wanting to grab a bite, a food truck will be on-site, and the beer gardens will be open as well.
“The community has always been great, offering full support for the rodeo,” said Downey.
Slack for the rodeo will take place at 10 a.m. while the main event will kick off at 5 p.m.
