There is so much going on in the next two weeks one certainly won’t be bored or lonely.
There is Santa Daze on the 9th, Library Cookie Exchange on the 12th, White Gift Sunday Dec. 10, Dec. 11 Blue Christmas service in the evening, Dec. 17 joint Castor/Alliance choir in the afternoon at the United Church, Dec. 22 community Christmas concert, Dec. 2 Merna choir in the evening at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. With all of this going on it would be nice if many would step up and volunteer to help.
Rumor has it that real estate is moving in town. I will check it out.
Congratulations to Maddie Kuefler upon winning a Hayley Wichenheiser Lace ‘em Up scholarship. Maddie is the granddaughter of Rob and Darlene Wold and Bob and Cecile Kuefler.
A woman of many talents, Frona Sparks passed away November 21. She would have been 96 on Dec 1. Frona moved to Alliance about 1982. She was a natural healer, babysitter and teacher of health alternatives. She also offered room and board and raised dogs. There were a total of 48 children whom she babysat over the years. She taught me about a crystal, hydrogen peroxide and reflexology.
She has been living in Colorado Springs with her daughter these last few years. She was on village council for a term.
There aren’t many whose life she didn’t touch in some way. She had two children who produced 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and even two great-great-grandchildren.
Town man Wayne was checking out the street light decorations to get them ready for ATCO to come and put them up this week.
There is some discussion on floats for the Parade of Lights, such as who has an idea for a theme? Whose generator is working? Who is going to pull the trailer? It will all come together.
The arena board has members taking turns at putting on the coffee on Sunday mornings at the arena. The 26th was the first day it was open and there were at least a dozen folks in for coffee and some made toast too. It is a nice social time and a little fundraiser for the arena. Since church service is at 11:30 a.m. there is time to go to coffee first and then catch the worship service.
The library board also has a fundraiser. There is a Christmas basket and a children’s bag of toys in a raffle to be drawn on Santa Daze.
