Congratulations to the Endmoor U11 hockey team who placed first in their tier. They had their first playoff game on March 3 against Delburne in Byemoor and won it in a tight 8-7 game. They also won their second game in Delburne so are off the next round. Good luck in the playoffs to the U11 team.

Congratulations to Cash Buchwitz on being selected to play baseball with the Red Deer Carstar Braves AAA team. Cash played for the Stettler Storm and now will join the pitching lineup in Red Deer. Good luck, Cash.

Congratulations to Adam Jones and Robyn Armstrong on winning the team roping event put on by the Big Country Agricultural Society at the Crossroads Centre in Oyen recently. Great win!

Several folks from Endiang and Byemoor attended the County of Stettler’s 45th annual Community Service Awards hosted in Red Willow on March 2 where County communities gave recognition to their valued volunteers.

Congratulations to Bobbi Buchwitz on being presented the Sullivan Lake West Agricultural Sociey community service award for her outstanding contribution to various organizations, sports groups and the school in the Endmoor community. Thank you to Bobbi for her many years of volunteer service.

Congratulations to Ryder Buchwitz who was awarded the Endmoor Culture and Recreation Society Youth Service Award for his many contributions to the community in sports, school, church and many Endmoor organizations. It is wonderful volunteering from this fine young man. Both Bobbi and Ryder (her nephew) have contributed to communities beyond our own.

Marj Sorensen and her daughter Gaylynn Lelek along with Gaylynn’s family enjoyed a family vacation to Cancun, Mexico. They reported a wonderful time and Marj celebrated her 77th birthday in Mexico.

Byemoor Mixed Curling Bonspiel wrapped up on Saturday, March 4 with a Rumsey team taking top prize. Congratulations to the winners: ‘A’ Event, 1. Betty Primrose, Rumsey 2. Danielle Burrows, Rumsey. ‘B’ Event, 1. Justin Jones, Byemoor 2. Jim Krautt, Halkirk. ‘C’ Event, the Byemoor rinks of John Schofer and Eugene Nixon tied.

This wraps up curling season at the Byemoor Curling Club. Thanks to all the volunteers who contributed to another successful year and to Blaine and Debbie Goeson for operating the booth at the bonspiels.

Don’t forget the County in Your Community Event, a rural hall tour hosted by the County of Stettler, is coming to the Byemoor Community Centre on Thursday, March 9. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a supper served at 6:30 p.m. and presentations and discussion to follow. Join Council and County Administration to discuss projects in the County. Special guests in attendance will be the Stettler RCMP and Stettler FCSS. For catering purposes please RSVP to www.stettlercounty.ca/gather or phone 403-742-4441.

As the result of the recent survey, Stettler Learning Centre is bringing the following education classes to Byemoor:

Canva 101, a graphic design platform, will be taught in two sessions on March 16 and March 23 from 6 – 8 p.m. each Thursday evening at the Byemoor School. Laptops will be provided. Cost $30.

Basic Computers and Email will be taught Tuesday evenings from 6 – 8 p.m. on March 14 and March 21. Cost $10.

Basic Microsoft Word will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 8 p.m. on April 4 and April 11. Cost $10.

Basic Microsoft Excel classes will be on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 8 p.m. on April 25 and May 2. Cost $10.

Laptops will be provided for all courses, but you must pre-register and all are being held at the Byemoor School.

Endmoor Drop-In Centre in Byemoor is hosting a Crib Tournament on April 20 at 10 a.m. Must pre-register before April 13. Only the first 32 registrants will be accepted so register early to avoid disappointment. Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Call Doreen Nixon at 403-579-2460 (home) or 403-740-9546 (cell).

Congratulations to Brady Mappin for placing first in senior public speaking at the District 4-H public speaking competition held in Morrin.
