For the Advance

For fans of Paw Patrol, Wednesday Mar. 20 was quite an event in Castor.

The annual Early Years Fair was hosted in the Gus Wetter School library, and Skye came in to get her picture taken with kids and adults alike.

Skye was a last-minute substitution for the event as Marshall, who had originally volunteered to attend, had been called away to go save people in a fire. The involvement of the Paw Patrol character was a highlight for the kids at an event that brought together community services from all over the County of Paintearth as a showcase of services available to parents for children between new-born and six years of age.

In addition to the Paw Patrol character the Adventure Bus was set up outside in the parking lot.

The Adventure Bus is a modified school bus that is equipped with many fun activities for kids, such as a zipline, monkey bars, and a climbing wall to name a few of the many options inside.

Displays set up this year had representatives from the regional Early Childhood Coalition, Family and Community Support Services, QFS Gym promoting kid’s fitness, Paintearth Community Adult Learning Council, and others letting parents know what services they can provide for them and their children. Several raffles were also held for parents bringing children in to the event.

This year the event, which has been occurring annually for several years, was organized by Elynn Schaffner. Elynn is in her fourth year at Gus Wetter School and can be reached at the school for contact information in regards any of the presenters at this year’s fair. Parents bringing kids to the fair in the afternoon were lucky to get a double blast of PAW Patrol for their children, as Marshall finished his rescue and joined Skye for the remainder of the day.
