Several Christmas parties are being held throughout the community utilizing the facilities in the community hall, the Senior Centre and the newly renovated hotel. The seniors will host a Christmas supper meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 19th for their members commencing at 6 p.m.

The regular Thursday night bingo in the hall had 27 players this week. Congratulations to Anne Neilson who was the winner of a Christmas poinsettia. At the Dec. 21 bingo, there will be a draw for a Christmas goodie hamper. The first bingo of the new year will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7:30 sharp.

The Engel family met for an early Christmas at the home of Dianne Engel-Kimmel`s daughter, Mackenzie, in Didsbury last weekend. Able to attend were Don and Kjerene, Brad and Jennifer and their families; Doris and Denis Cordel, Adrian and Rae-Anne and their families: Dianne, Dayle, Maddie and the host Mackenzie and their families. The Joy of Christmas was evident as they tried to take pictures of the 12 youngsters under 10 years of age. Sure does make the grandparents smile!

Jan and Rose Koenraadt, Dennis and Katie Turre along with Steve and Edie Woodrow spent a week in Las Vegas enjoying the lovely warm weather. They rented a car and toured Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, as well as attended a performance of the Australian Bee Gee`s singing group. A good time was had by all but the one-armed bandits did not co-operate.

JD and Sandra Johnson and girls, accompanied by Dale and Denise Marquart spent a week near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They stayed in Sayulita, a little town known for its surfing and fantastic food and then moved on to an all inclusive resort. Besides taking surfing lessons they also went horse back riding.

The youngsters from our community are known to excel in sports and so, are involved in school and after school activities. Volleyball has finished, basketball practice is starting, there`s snow in the mountains and hockey has been going for a couple of months.

Devon Johnson and Morgyn Jordahl play with the midget girls out of Stettler.

The rest of our players are with the 3C`s (Castor, Coronation and Consort). Owen Schauer (goalie) and Thayer Bunbury play with the pee-wee A team: Toryn Johnson and Codi James play on the pee-wee girls team: Ray Musgrove (goalie) is with the pee-wee B team and his dad Grant is their coach: Landon Slemp (goalie) plays for the bantam B team and Cade James plays with the bantam A team: Boston Slemp and Cort James play with the atom team.
