The Castor and District FCSS has organized a question and answer session to be held at the Halkirk Senior Centre on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. A representative will be available to assist seniors who require information and/or assistance in filling out government forms. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Seventy-seven years ago David Ainsworth and Susan Rowland, both from Halkirk, were married. Within a year they had moved to the west coast and the logging camps on the Island; started a business, Ainsworth Lumber Co. along with David’s brother Tom, at 100 Mile House; raised a family and eventually retired to Vancouver. Last week, on Dec. 9 they had a party to celebrate their anniversary. Both remain in reasonably good health. We send our congratulations.
On Thursday, Dec. 14, several members of our farm community attended the FCC (Farm Credit Corp.) Meeting in Red Deer. Inspirational speakers for the day included Manjit Minhas, a beer baroness, who is a member of the Dragons Den group on TV; Dr. Georges Sabongui, a physiologist and stress management specialist as well as Brian Williams, a television sportscaster.
Please note: The Elks have had to change the date for their annual Alaskan Seafood dinner and Comedy evening to Saturday, Feb. 10. More information in the New Year.
