Maxine Taylor, formerly of the Halkirk and Castor areas and currently of Calgary, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sept. 16 with a celebration dinner on Sept. 15 at the home of her daughter, Betty Taylor, and was surrounded by family and friends. The party of 10 included Maxine and family members Betty, son Harold, grandchildren Jennifer, Michael and his wife Ruby and cousin Barbara Keller all of Calgary. She was also honoured to have friend and former Castor neighbour Louise Boland, now of Montreal, and her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Don Thieleman of Castor with her to help celebrate this major milestone in her life. Maxine attributes her longevity to great genes and the wholesome, simple, but hard working farm life that she and her late husband, Irvine, enjoyed together for so many years. (Contributed photo)
