A trio from St. John’s, Newfoundland, is set to close out the Stettler Variety Showcase season.

The Ennis Sisters, who are celebrating their 25th year in the music business in 2022, are bringing their Irish-infused music to the Stettler Performing Arts Centre on May 1.

Self-managed, the three sisters of the group all have their roles to play. Oldest sister Maureen serves as the band leader and youngest sister Theresa acts as the booking manager.

“We’ve had to learn how to do that,” said Theresa Ennis.

“Now it runs pretty smoothly. With the online presence, it’s a 24-hour job.”

Theresa admits that things haven’t always run smoothly.

“There was moments where ego was there,” said Theresa.

“We had to learn to give each other space. It’s not always easy.”

That space resulted in the band parting ways for a short time while Karen and Maureen headed down to Nashville, Tenn., to grow their writing while Theresa stayed home and worked on her own projects.

“I released a couple of solo albums,” said Theresa.

“They learned song writing. We realized we were stronger as trio.”

According to Theresa, there will be something for everybody at the May 1 show, which will feature music from 25 years together.

“It will have emotional moments. It will have humour,” said Theresa.

“It will be a fun, dynamic, exciting evening.”

Stettler Variety Showcase will have season passes for the 2022/2023 line up available for sale at the May 1 show, then they will be available at Grate Kitchen Shoppe beginning May 2.

For anyone wanting to catch another opportunity to see the Ennis Sisters, or if you are unable to make the May 1 show, the trio will be opening the Coronation Royal Performing Arts season this fall.
