The Clearview board of trustees recognized the 2023 Clearview Star Award winner during its most recent meeting.

Clearview announced during the March 20 meeting that long-time staffer and community volunteer Barb Gano is this year’s winner of the Clearview Star.

Gano, an executive assistant in the Clearview central office, currently coordinates health and wellness work division wide.

Over 27 years working for Clearview, Gano has “held various positions” and been “very active” with the community such as serving on the Stettler Library Board for the past 12 years.

“The board thanks Ms Gano for her contributions to Clearview’s schools and communities,”notes recently released board meeting highlights.

Gano will be recognized during the May 31 Clearview Recognition Night.

Phones

Due to aging, unsupported, infrastructure, Clearview is going to begin the process of updating its phone systems.

The current plan is to upgrade from the current system to a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system due to being more cost effective.

To help ease pains associated with transitioning to the new system, it will first be installed and tested at both the Central Services Building in Stettler and Botha School.

Once the bugs are worked out, the system will roll out to the rest of the division.

To ascertain the needs of the different schools division wide, Clearview will send a team from the administration offices to do a needs assessment at each facility.

At the same time, the team will be looking into possibly updating standard intercom and bell systems so that they are compatible with the VoIP equipment.

Tradeshow

The Clearview Board is planning to attend the Stettler Trade Show from April 14-16.

“This annual event is a great opportunity for trustees to converse with and support the community,” notes the highlights release.
