An international commemorative event celebrated every November has found a foothold in Castor.

Children’s Day was first commemorated in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare in 1925.

World Children’s Day, as the world now knows it, has been celebrated on Nov. 20 since 1959 when the United Nations General Assembly declared the rights of children on that date.

Due to World Children’s Day falling on a Sunday in 2022, the celebration was held at the Beaverdome on Mon., Nov. 21, starting at 3:30 p.m.

The event was sponsored by Paintearth-Neutral Hills Family Community Connection.

Around a dozen children attended the event and were able to take part in free skating, crafts and games. Snacks and hot chocolate were also provided!
