For the Advance

The Castor Foodbank is in good shape to help those in need, according to manager Sue Goodkey.

Located in the Town of Castor office, the foodbank services the region by helping those in need get needed food if they are unable to afford it themselves. The summer is typically a quieter time of year for the Castor Foodbank, and while numbers have remained consistent, Goodkey reports that no new people have been seeking her services.

“That’s a good thing,” said Goodkey.

“If (people) need help, we are there for them.”

While the shelves are not overflowing with food stuffs currently, Goodkey said, “We are not lacking.”

“It would be nice to have a few more donations,” said Goodkey.

If anyone would like to donate to the Castor Foodbank, there are donation boxes at both Family Foods and Magnet. Food items, cash, and cheques can also be dropped off at the Town of Castor office.

For those in need, the Castor Foodbank is ready to serve, and may be contacted through the Castor and District Family and Support Services office (FCSS) at 403-882-2215. People needing support can access the foodbank for a hamper every other month.
