While the return of the Castor and District Fair was generally a positive for the community over the second weekend in August, it was not all good news.

Sometime between Aug. 12 at 4 p.m. and Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. the Castor Public Library was broken into with some items stolen.

According to Castor Public Library Board chair Lynn Sabo, a pair of iPads for public use in the library and the library’s petty cash box containing around $200 were stolen.

The thief, or thieves, gained access to the building through a side window.

While the crime was reported to the RCMP, as of Aug. 16 RCMP media relations reports that there are currently no suspects, nor witnesses, to the crime. It is still being determined by the RCMP whether or not there is any security camera footage of anyone suspicious being in the area over the weekend.

If anyone has any information regarding this break in, they are asked to contact the Coronation RCMP detachment at 403-578-3622.

For those wishing to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.p3tips.com or on the P3 Tips app available on Apple and Android mobile devices.
