Castor’s ECA Choir performs series of shows leading up to Christmas

After not being able to perform during 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the former singers of the Castor-Alliance Choir were back in December 2022.

After not being able to perform during 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the former singers of the Castor-Alliance Choir were back in December 2022.

The re-formed ECA Community Choir presented the “Child of the Promise” Christmas Cantata during the holiday season.

Practising throughout the fall, the 16 members of the choir performed four shows during the second and third-weeks of December.

Kicking off the performance series as a show on Dec. 13 for the resident of Castor’s Paintearth Lodge.

Next up, the performers sung at the Coronation EFree Church on Dec. 17.

The performance series wrapped up on Dec. 18 with an afternoon show in Alliance followed by an evening show at the Castor Evangelical Missionary Church.

Comprising the choir in 2022 were:

Sopranos were Linda Windross, Cara Penner, Karen Simpson, and Samantha Plett.

Altos were Josie Neilson, Laura Towers, Natasha Penner, and Alexandra Zimmerman.

Tenors were Thomas Zimmerman and Eric Neilson.

Finally, the bass singers were Anthony Plett, Curtis Penner, and Marty Hays.

Accompanying the singers, as usual, were Roger Spady who again provided narration between songs and Betty Spady who accompanied the singers on piano.

The choir was conducted by Steve Penner.

With the final performance done, the ECA Choir will take a few weeks off before beginning practise for the Easter series of performances.

The ECA Choir has been performing in the region for over 25 years.
