Clearview Public Schools has named a new principal for Botha School to begin at the start of the 2023-24 school year.

In a July 4 media release, Clearview announced that Wm. E. Hay Secondary teacher Joy Corpataux will be transitioning to Botha School into the vacant leadership role.

“We are very happy to have Joy Corpataux take on the role of Principal at Botha School,” said Scot Leys, Clearview superintendent, in the media release.

“Joy is a strong communicator and relationship builder and is an active member of her school council and athletic department. I have the utmost confidence that Joy will lead Botha School with clear direction and work collaboratively with staff and parents to advocate for the success of all students. We welcome Joy to our leadership team and look forward to working with her to ensure continuing success for Botha students and the community!”

During her time in Clearview Public Schools, Corpataux has developed a strong “student-centred approach to teaching” as well as strong leadership skills through her many coaching and volunteer roles.

At Wm. E. Hay, Corpataux focused on literacy and French as a second language as a teacher while also coaching the area’s club basketball team and the Girls’ Junior Varsity Basketball Team.

Away from school, or the courts, Corpataux actively volunteers with Therapy Dogs International and has three dogs of her own which have made their way to the classroom to assist with students.

A firm believer in enhancing learning away from the schools, Corpataux also recently organized a French Trip to Quebec for two other teachers and 26 kids.

“I am very excited to be joining Botha school,” said Corpataux.

“I look forward to working with the amazing staff, students and families of the Botha community to promote academic excellence, foster a safe and inclusive learning environment, and support the growth and development of every student. Small county schools hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to continuing the amazing work at Botha School!”
