Edwin Parr Nominations

Nomination forms have now been sent out to principals across the division to nominate a first-year teacher for the ASBA’s Edwin Parr award.

Candidates are to be selected by the deadline on February 22nd, and then interviews will begin with those teachers in March.

The winner will be announced on March 27th as Clearview’s nomination for the Zone 4 ASBA award. Each zone then holds a recognition event for all nominees from each division, and a zone winner is then selected from those nominees.

There are four new teachers in the Clearview division this year, with the nominee expected to be announced during the March 1st meeting.

The award is named after Edwin Parr, who served as the Board Chair of the Athabasca school division, and as the president of the Alberta School Trustees’ Association (now the Alberta School Board Association) from 1956 until 1962.

When he passed away in 1963, the association established an annual honour in his name the following year.

Clearview Recognition Night

Trustees agreed to a date and location for the 2018 Clearview Recognition Night during their February 8th meeting.

In the past, the event has been held at the Stettler Community Hall and in Castor. The board was informed that the Hub at the Stettler Rec. Centre is available for rent this year at a cost of $225, compared to $650 for the Community Hall.

The board passed a motion to hold this year’s event at the Hub at the S-R-C on Thursday, June 7th. Tickets will be $25, while teachers receiving an award will get in for free.

Meeting with the East Central Alberta Catholic School Board

The public board also passed a motion to set a meeting date with the trustees of the East Central Alberta Catholic division. The board which is based in Wainwright, will be in Stettler on March 27th.

Clearview staff will see if this date aligns with the Catholic board for a “meet & greet for the benefit of the five new trustees on the Clearview Board.
