Our various sports teams have been busy competing the past few weeks and weekends. The archery team was at Hanna on Friday, Feb. 2. Congratulations to the Castor Raiders archery team (many of whom many placed in the top 3 in their division) Junior High girls: Payton Fuller-266, Saige Stewart -257, Zoey Giffin- 251, High School girls , Ripley Giffin- 270. Ripley Giffin and Payton Fuller were the top two overall scores. The archery team will be competing in Stettler on Saturday, Feb. 10th at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.
The basketball teams have been off to tournaments and league games. The Senior Raiders and Tigers played Consort last week and came out on top. As well the Senior Raiders played in the Forestburg and Bashaw tournaments. They won the Consolation side at both tournaments. Monday, the Tigers went to Wainwright winning a league game.
As well, the Junior Tigers and Raiders played Coronation last week. Both teams won their games with the boys winning by one basket. These two teams also have played in tournaments in New Norway and Consort. At Consort they lost by one point in the final game against Theresetta.
The curling teams hosted a curling event last Thursday, with some good curling. This Friday, Feb. 9th the junior high team is playing in the CARA spiel in Stettler and the senior high team is off to Provost for Areas. Good luck to the teams.
On Wednesday, January 31, the elementary classes presented John Wright from the Castor Historical Museum with a cheque for $2,000. This money was raised through the Christmas Extravaganza on December 20, 2017.
