As far as the County of Paintearth budget goes, there is not much change going into 2022.

The 2022 operating and capital budgets were passed by council during their Dec. 14, 2021 meeting.

Passing the budgets prior to Jan. 1, 2022, is a requirement under the Municipal Government Act so that the county can continue operating and paying bills.

The 2022 operating budget will require just over $13.6 million in funding, very close to the amount needed in the 2021 budget.

Included in the budget is the anticipated revenue of around $399,000 for the sale of surplus county equipment, as well as a draw from restricted surplus of $1.4 million.

The budget presented to council for approval represents no increase in spending from 2021 levels.

Mental Health Gala

The County of Paintearth council has decided to support the upcoming February Mental Health Gala.

Council will purchase a table and a half-page ad in the gala’s program for $500.

According to chief administrative officer Michael Simpson, the details surrounding who will actually attend the event will be worked out closer to that time.
