Castor Elks member George Nichols presents Castor Fire Chief Patrick Kelly with a cheque for just over $1,000 during the Fire Department’s training night on Jan. 14th. The money was raised from the Elks Boxing Day Draw, in which Brenda Kneller won the top prize of $1,000, Lorne Szwaluk, the father of Jacquie Baldwin, won the second $500 prize, and Shawn Flemming, the grandson of Don Fix, won the third $300 prize. Castor Mayor Richard Elhard attended the Tuesday night Fire Department training on Jan. 14th to make a presentation. Firefighter and Town councillor Lonny Nelner was presented with the Exemplary Service Medal, acknowledging 20 years of service to the Castor Fire Department. Nelner had previously been awarded the bar indicating 30 years of service, however due to an oversight was never acknowledged with his 20 year medal.
