Main Street Castor will be alive with Christmas spirit on Dec. 7.
The “Spirit of Christmas” late-night shopping event will be making a return in 2023, although it won’t be as big as when it was held a couple of years ago.
“Each business will have in-store specials for the night,” said Anthony Holland, the mastermind behind the evening.
The Spirit of Christmas late-night shopping event was first put on “a couple of years ago” as a customer appreciation for Holland’s Main Street business, though several other businesses jumped on board.
For 2023, “each business is looking after their own thing,” said Holland, though he noted that the courtyard beside the post office will be decorated and local musicians will be performing there between 7 and 8 p.m.
Elsewhere on Main Street, a dance will be happening in the yard beside Home Hardware.
The Dec. 7 date is set to coincide with the Christmas Market run by the Castor Farmer’s Market. The market will run from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
According to Holland, the late-night shopping on Main Street is designed to give people “something to do after the Christmas Market.”
If everything goes well, Holland says that he hopes that the “Spirit of Christmas” will become an annual event.
