The following matters were heard before Judge W.A. Skinner in Stettler provincial court on Aug. 9:

• Curtis Jerome Bunz is at risk of going to jail for the charges he is facing, Crown prosecutor Blair Brandon told the court. He is charged with three counts of evading police, dangerous driving, impaired driving, two counts of driving while suspended, displaying an unauthorized license and driving without insurance. The matter was adjourned until Sept. 13 to give him time to get legal aid.

• Johnathan Wilson-Martin appeared from Red Deer Remand Centre via CCTV. He is charged with five counts of possession of stolen property and possession of break-in instruments.

Duty counsel George Lebessis told the court that Wilson-Martin wants to plead guilty.

“I’m in Bowden penitentiary so not going to get released,” he told the court.

Judge Skinner told the defendant that he needs to know which court he wants to be tried in and if the Crown is proceeding by indictable or summary before he enters a plea.

The matter was adjourned until Aug. 23 for plea.

• Valerie-Jean Morris, who is co-accused with Johnathan Wilson-Martin and isn’t in custody, is charged with five counts of possession of stolen property and possession of break-in instruments.

The matter was adjourned until Aug. 23.

• Christina L. Lansdell, appeared from Calgary Remand Centre via CCTV. She told the court that she is still trying to obtain a lawyer and is waiting to hear back from legal aid, adding that she contacted two but they both declined her case.

She is charged with two counts of unlawfully being in a dwelling, two counts of trespassing at night, two counts of theft under $5,000, seven counts of failing to comply with conditions, one count of driving while disqualified, theft of a vehicle, break and enter, two counts of possession of stolen property, mischief and three counts of possession of a controlled substance. The Crown is proceeding by indictable offence on 10 charges.

Crown prosecutor Blair Brandon told the court that he is making an application to revoke her bail. Duty counsel George Lebessis asked the court if that process could be adjourned until she gets counsel.

The matter is adjourned until Aug. 23.

• Red Deer lawyer Daniel Wilson requested an adjournment for Joshua Boysis, who is currently in Edmonton Remand Centre (ERC). He is set to reappear Aug. 23 via CCTV from ERC. Boysis is charged with two counts of breach of conditions and three counts of failing to attend court.

• Thomas Mervin Graham faces four charges, including break and enter into a home, fail to comply with release conditions and two counts of breach of conditions. Crown told the court they are proceeding by way of indictable offence on the break and enter charge.

The charges were read out by the clerk. On June 26 Graham is alleged to have broken into a home in Stettler.
