A woman from Banff is dead after a four-vehicle collision on Hwy 9 on Dec. 27.

According to Const. Mike Hibbs of RCMP Media Relations, the initial police investigation determined that an eastbound truck crossed the centre line and into the path of a westbound car on Hwy 9 near Range Road 60 at about 11 a.m.

The woman, 28, died at the scene.

A man and woman, who were passengers of the eastbound truck suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance. In addition, two other women and one man from the other two cars were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Icy roads and foggy conditions are contributing factors.
