A good turnout of bull riding fans turned out April 13 for the 24th Annual Byemoor Bull-A-Rama, the longest consecutively held bull-a-rama in Canada.

After some challenging rides in the long and short go-rounds it was Irricana, Alberta cowboy Luke Ferber who was named the night’s champion bull rider with an 84.5 point final ride. Second place ride went to Chase Thielen of Milk River with 83 points.

The 30 bull riders who entered were from Brazil, New Zealand, U.S.A., Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The 50/50 draw of $420 was won by Nolan Groundwater of Endiang while the cowboy boots were won by Brent Olesen of Hanna.

Dancing to the early morning hours to the music of Daly Up and Dance of Hanna concluded the evening.

Sullivan Lake West Agricultural Society, who hosted the event, appreciates all those who attended, the generous sponsors and hard working volunteers who contributed to another successful bull-a-rama in Byemoor.

Remember the crib tournament coming up at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre on April 22 starting at 10 a.m. Interested persons must pre-register by April 15 by calling Deanna Johnson at 403-579-2331 or 403-742-7698.

Some Endiang folks took in an event in Three Hills on April 7 that featured the entertaining talents of renowned cowboy poet B. J. Smith, who was formerly from Endiang. Those going included Deanna Johnson, Jodi Johnson, Garnet McLearn, Winnie Paulsen, Doris Schilling, Mickey Tucker and Lynda Wilkie. All enjoyed the supper, performance and reconnecting with B. J.

On the occasion of Helen Schmidt’s 90th birthday there will be a potluck supper held at the Scapa Hall on April 21 at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in and wish Helen a happy birthday on her special milestone.

Chuck Schilling was the guest of honour at a surprise 70th birthday party in Stettler on April 8. Happy birthday Chuck from the community and best wishes for many more.

Endmoor folks have been doing some traveling of late.

Miles and Lynne Jones are home from their winter stay in Arizona. This year we saved some winter for them here yet.

Shannon Knowles and Brenda Jones traveled to Las Vegas for five days taking in the world’s men’s curling. They dined at the same restaurant as the men’s team from Sweden and were fortunate to have their photo taken with the Swedish team.

Julie Jones and her daughter Candace Boxma visited Victoria, B.C. There the weather is beautiful, the temperatures are warm and flowers are in bloom already. Their weather is a real contrast to Alberta’s.

Rob, Rhonda and Hunter Maginn welcomed guests from St. Thomas, Ontario who will spend several weeks with the Maginns. Visiting are Rob’s father Bob Maginn and his friend Paul Rochon.

Winter seems to be hanging on with a death-grip and will not end. Maybe it is true that Canada only has two seasons — winter and July.

Thought for the day — “A negative mind will never give a positive life.”
