The Argyle Women’s Institute held the annual meeting and elected a new executive. Karin McCracken is now president, Verleen Spady is vice president, Vickie Cloakey does the secretary job and Randy Wickstrom takes care of the money. Grace Reister is the one person phone committee to remind us of meetings and other important events. Following the meeting there was a great pot luck lunch and then some games and more goodies. Membership is open to all women who would like to learn and make a difference.

Anne Clough and Sheila Miller were up to Daysland this week to visit with Ruth Peacock at Providence Place. They tell me that 93 year old Ruth is younger looking every time they see her.

Karin McCracken was in Red Deer for lunch with her daughter, Kim of Lacombe and the Baltimore relatives.

The Christmas concert takes place on Friday and there is still room for some more performances. Call me.

December 30 there is an 80th birthday celebration going on at the community hall. Don’t tell Jim Bullee but come and join the fun.

The arena committee is hosting a New Years Eve Family Pub Night at the arena of course. There will be free skating from 6 to 9 and then Shinny hockey takes over. If you’re not into skating there is a chance to sing along or play along with your instrument.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dixie Berry and family as she faces the trials and tribulations of cancer. When thoughts and prayers are not enough, there is a collection set up at the Valley Inn to help the family with the extra expenses.

The Combined Choir of Castor/Alliance did a beautiful presentation on Sunday afternoon at the United Church in Alliance. They really love the acoustics in this church. The group went to Castor Evangelical Church for an evening performance. They had already sang at the extended care and at Paintearth Lodge.
