Castor and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) held a volunteer appreciation event on April 26.

Hosted at the new FCSS offices in the old Golden Circle building, around 25 people ventured out for an afternoon of coffee, cake, and music.

Entertainment was provided by Anthony Holland of Rhythm and Beat Studio who played a collection of cover songs.

The event ran from 1:30 p.m. until 3p.m.

“It’s a very special day,” said Paintearth Lodge’s Brenda Kneller, who welcomed everyone to the event.

“We get to acknowledge volunteers for their valuable contribution.”

The volunteer appreciation event was held in conjunction with National Volunteer Week, which this year ran from April 24 to 30 and had the theme of “Volunteering is Empathy in Action.”

More information about National Volunteer Week can be found at www.volunteer.ca.
