The smooth vocals of bluegrass crooner Jake Vaadeland filled a sold-out Coronation Community Hall on Nov. 4.

Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys were in town to open the 2023-24 Coronation Royal Performing Arts (CRPA) 2023-24 season.

The show was a throwback to the 1950s complete with old-style stage equipment and microphones, and Vaadeland and company even did some old-time commercial jingles as part of their performance.

Joining Jake on stage were Joel Rohs on guitar and electric guitar, Stephen Williams on bass, and Jaxon Lalonde on banjo.

According to organizers, CRPA has sold a record, or near-record, 115 season tickets for the upcoming year and around an additional 30 tickets were sold for the first show of the year.

Next up for CRPA is Amy Bishop, who will be taking the stage on Dec. 2, 2023.
