I had an interesting week with some old contacts renewed.I had a phone call from Donna Rombough in Stettler just to say “hi” and catch up. Then there was an email from Andrea Balazs in Prague who says to say “hi” to all the friends she made here. Then I saw old neighbours, Don and Eileen Blumhagen at the concert in Forestburg. Don looks pretty good in spite of his health issues.

The Rockets Hockey tournament had six teams competing. They played three games each. The food booth was so busy that they had to send out for more burgers to cook. I saw the Zamboni for the first time. I am sure that it is the only Zamboni that is operated with a driver in skates. He does a great job.

Sedgewick, Coronation, Lougheed, Viking, Alliance put together hockey teams and then a team dubbed “the Young–ens with some from Saskatoon filled out the schedule. The ice was in fine shape and there was some great hockey.

Sheila Miller got a great picture of her son and four grandsons all dressed up in hockey gear to play in the tournament.

F.I.R.S.T. supper and auction is next Saturday in Forestburg.

The ski hill is enjoying the new snow. The parking lot was pretty full on Sunday afternoon and the hill was busy. Debra Coles and Jennette Fetema are doing the cooking in the concession this year. They also ran out of burgers on Sunday.

The Common Vision concert has a nice line up of talent to entertain you on February 10 at the United Church. The proceeds of this concert go to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and will be matched four to one by the government.

There will be a bazaar at the mulitplex from 5 to 7 on February 10 and after you find your bargains you can go down to the concert. Another great weekend in Alliance.

The annual congregational meeting took place at the United Church after the service on Sunday. There is a Meet Your Neighbour Night planned again for March 17 which includes a spaghetti supper and silent auction. There will be a fall supper this year too, something that hasn’t been done for some time. Roger Spady will stay on as chairman, Laura Towers is secretary, Ralph Davidson remains as treasurer and new board member is Dell Wickstrom.
