Kurek sworn in as MP for Battle River — Crowfoot

Kurek says it’s ‘an honour to be once again sworn in.’

Battle River – Crowfoot incumbent Conservative MP Damien Kurek was sworn in on Oct. 28.

Kurek, who was re-elected on Sept. 20, was sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the riding after a six-week federal election which saw the Liberal Party re-capture another minority government.

“It is certainly an honour to once again be sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Battle River—Crowfoot,” Kurek said in a speech delivered at the ceremony and via Facebook Live.

He went on to thank his family, staff, campaign team, and volunteers.

“Although there is one name on the ballot, although there is one name on the election sign, it is truly about so many more than one person.”

He made it clear that while the Liberal Government is in no hurry to return to the work of serving Canadians, he and the Official Opposition is already, “hard at work for constituents and all Canadians.”

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Kurek was only able to invite a few people to attend the ceremony in-person.

However, an invite was sent out earlier that morning to a few thousand people through his monthly “E-Newsletter” to watch it live via the web. In-person, Kurek was joined by his wife, Danielle, and his youngest son, Winston, who was born in June.
