Mobile cancer screening clinic to visit Castor in April

The Alberta Health Services (AHS) mobile mammography trailer will be making a stop in Castor later in April.

The Alberta Health Services (AHS) mobile mammography trailer will be making a stop in Castor later in April.

Arriving on April 23, the trailer will also be available for appointments from April 25-27 for women between the ages of 50 and 74, the group most likely to develop breast cancer according to the release.

“A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer,” said Yolanda Ganu, a member of AHS Communications, via a media release.

“Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.”

For the Castor dates, the trailer will be parked outside the Castor Community Hall.

Castor and Paintearth County residents local to Castor can book an appointment or get more information about the program by calling 1-800-667-0604.

According to the release, due to COVID-19 a number of precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of clients and staff, the details will shared when the appointment is booked.
