Points West Living opened in Stettler five years ago helping seniors remain active, contributing members of the community.

A five-year anniversary celebration was held July 4 with dignitaries Stettler County Coun. James Nibourg and Town of Stettler Coun. Scott Pfeiffer joining the residents in a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

Points West helps seniors age in place, moving them through various levels of care with the least amount of disturbance to their routines and relationships.

“They look after me really well and I’m sure happy to be here,” said Jim Elwood, the centre’s first resident. “The level of care in this facility is next to nothing. They are so good.”

Residents of Points West participate in decision-making with the organizers. They help plan and arrange activities.

“We’re very, very fortunate to have another community within our community,” said Stettler County Coun. James Nibourg about the centre. “I think that’s what we work on in our town and county relationship. We are definitely one community and this is one small community inside our community. “

Points West focuses on wellness and strives to have a home-like feel.

“Congratulations to Carol (Dyck) and the staff for all the excellent work they do to make this beautiful facility more like a home,” said Town of Stettler Coun. Scott Pfeiffer.
