Madeleine Gagnon passed away on June 21, 2023, at the Lacombe Hospital & Care Centre at age 95.
Madeleine, daughter of Francis and Marcelle Jaboeuf, was born in Castor on April 5, 1928, the third of four siblings: Odette, Francis, and Paulette. She was raised on a farm and kept busy helping with chores.
She moved to B.C. where she had her children and returned to Castor to raise them and be close to her siblings. Madeleine was a hard worker, caring, loving person as she opened up her home to care for many foster children. Madeleine enjoyed being an active member of Our Lady of Grace Parish where she prepared the church for many services for several years, the Golden Circle where she enjoyed floor discing and other activities, Casino Bus Tours, Volunteer at Castor Museum, babysitting, playing Canasta and other card games. Later she moved to Lacombe to be closer to her grandchildren and enjoyed family time.
Madeleine was predeceased by her father Francis, sister Odette, mother Marcelle, brother Francis and sister Paulette. She is survived by daughters: Marcelle (Walter) Maki, Annette (Brian) Gilroy and Corey (Tom Bibaud) Gagnon; grandchildren: Kelsey (Rob) Senior, Justine Brown (Anthony Reno), Kelli Gilroy, Ryker, Brooke, Cody, Riley Bibaud and Matt Maki; great-grandchildren: Braiden, Corbin Senior and River Maki; nephew Lee (Tara) Jaboeuf; great nieces/nephew: Rebecca, Samantha and Gabriel Jaboeuf.

A graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Castor, AB on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. with lunch to follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital-Continuing Care or Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, Lacombe, AB.
