November 4, 1934 - February 21, 2019
Marlene Gladys was an only child born on November 4, 1934 in Coronation, Alberta to parents Harold and Julia Short. Marlene met the love of her life in 1949 when William Norman Baldwin moved to Coronation. A short time later the young couple was engaged, moved to Calgary and were married in 1954.

In 1955 the young couple moved to Regina and it was in 1958 when Cameron was born. In early 1960, the Baldwin's moved to Unity, Saskatchewan and there their second son, Aaron was born in 1964. The day that Marlene left the hospital with this new baby, the family moved to North Battleford, Saskatchewan. With Norm's employment with Imperial Oil, the family was able to live in many cities of Western Canada including Dauphin, Winnipeg, Lethbridge and finally in Calgary. Marlene worked at the Royal Bank of Canada starting as a teller and moving up to 'Claims Department' before her retirement in 1989. With their retirement they moved to Harvey Heights, near Canmore. The "empty nesters" enjoyed several summers at the mountains and many winters in Arizona. In 2001 the couple elected to move to Castor to be closer with their family. In December of 2010, Marlene lost the love of her life.

Marlene enjoyed the quiet community life and became a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, enjoyed many afternoons of bingo and met some dear friends through the knitting club and widow's club. Marlene soon started to downsize and moved into Manor III. As her health began to fail, she then opted to move into Paintearth Lodge. In May of 2017, Marlene then required more care and moved into Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Extended Care. On February 21, 2019 Marlene went peacefully in her sleep, that took her from this life to be with Norm once again.

Marlene is survived by her loving family, children: Cameron (Jacqueline) of Castor and Aaron (Maria Vnuchkova) of Russia; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sean (Lisa) and their children Hailey and Addeline; Hunter, Clinton all of Castor, Lauren (Chris) of Saskatoon and their children Keeley and Linden; Rhett of Calgary; sisters-in-law Phyllis Hudson of Saskatoon, Gwenda Lindstrom of Parksville, B.C., and Jewel Baldwin of Winnipeg; dear friend Irene Seth of Castor; nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.

Marlene was predeceased by her parents Harold and Julia Short; husband William Norman; brothers-in-law Mel Lindstrom, Neal Baldwin and Bob Hudson.

Funeral services will be announced as soon as travel arrangements can be made. Memorial donations may be made to Castor Extended Care or the Paintearth Lodge. Condolences may be sent to the family at parkviewfuneralchapels.com.
