Prayers go out to those in loneliness this holiday season

Christmas is the time when we celebrate family, friends and faith. The Christian faith is based on Jesus Christ and the events of Christmas and Easter. At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of our saviour. The events of Easter reveal the promises of resurrection and eternal life.

These are times to reflect on our lives, count our blessings, and focus on our spirituality as human beings, even for those not of the Christian faith. For centuries, these times of reflection and celebration have served to strengthen us and give us hope in our daily lives.

Our friends are always important during festive times. Friends can always be counted on to bring us a smile. Often, they are the ones that volunteer to join us in a mission or a job to be done. Their camaraderie is surely welcome and they add a jovial element. A good friend will lend a hand knowing that the favour will be returned. Sometimes, a listening ear is required and a true friend is there when we need them.

There are many people who experience loneliness during festive times. My prayer is that everyone has the experience of family, friends and faith.

From my family to yours, I wish everyone all the blessings of the Christmas holiday season. As your Member of Parliament, I always look forward to coming home from Ottawa to share some holiday cheer with constituents.
