Castor Curling Club hosts Ladies Bonspiel

The Castor Curling Club hosted the Ladies Bonspiel from Jan. 19-22, 2023.

Eight teams competed for cash prizes over the four days, with the top team winning $200 plus sponsorship jackets.

Coming in first place was the Carol Lundy-led team from Coronation.

Sandra Johnson’s team came in second, the Boxma team third, the Shipton team fourth, the Smith team fifth, the Howe team came in sixth, the Skrenek team seventh, and the Jordhal team eighth.

Prizes were offered for the first five places, with second earning $160, third $120, and fourth and fifth each earning $80.

Teams six, seven and eight were entered into a draw for a consolation prize consisting of four bottles of wine.

Carol Lundy’s first-place team consisted of Lundy, Wendy Glazier, Trina Cook and Leigh Neal.

The second-place Sandra Johnson team consisted of Johnson, Tammy Spady, Amanda Bateman, Carrie Compton and Lisa Jordhal. Compton and Jordhal shared duties on the team due to an injury to Compton on Jan. 20.

Rounding out third-place was the Boxma rink, consisting of Dena Boxma, Kirsten Smawley, Connie Smith and Lisa Beaumont.

The next bonspiel to take place at the Castor Curling Club will be the Pan Dunkle Memorial Junior Funspiel on Feb. 4 and 5.
