The Castor Curling Club hosted an eight team mixed bonspiel on Jan. 13 and 14.

According to organizer Kirsten Smawley, the event was the first four-person mixed bonspiel hosted at the club in over 15 years.

Winning the ‘A’ division was team Krautt, made up of Jim Krautt, Kathy Krautt, Levi La Rocque and Owen La Rocque. Winning the ‘B division was team Pasichunk, made of Alan Pasichunk, Darrel Howe, Jackie Shipton and Janet Davis. In the ‘C’ division, Team James, made up of Martina James, Craig James, Kirk Weber and Jordan Peterson took home the prize. Finally, in the ‘D’ division, Team Forbes, made up of Forbes Morrison, Geri Slemp, Aspen Johnson and Kurt Chick won.

In addition to the divisional play, some skills competitions were also held. The first skill tested was drawing to the Hog line, which was won by Team James, with Team Pasichunk coming in as runners up. The second skill was a hit and roll competition, which only had one team partake.

“The Boxma team was the only team to choose that competition, but they did a nice job!” said Smawley, via email after the event.

Event winners won cash prizes and skills competition winners won prizes donated by East Central Appraisals and Consulting Inc.

At the end of the bonspiel, all the competitors gathered for a banquet catered by Tammy Cooke. Cooke also ran the concession all weekend.
